G Clip — Permanent Solar Bird Proofing Fixings in Anodised Aluminium

The Problem Every Installer Has Faced

The cable tie is fast. But UV exposure degrades it inside eighteen months and it snaps under load. The drilled fixing holds permanently — but the moment the drill makes contact with the panel frame, the manufacturer’s warranty is void.

The mechanical fixing that delivers screw-fix security without touching the panel frame. Drill-free, warranty-safe, built to outlast the panels it protects.

For years, those were the only two options. A fix that fails, or a fix that voids.

There was no third option. Until the G Clip.

What the G Clip Does Differently

The G Clip uses the geometry of the panel frame itself as the fixing point. The clip hooks over the top edge of the frame, wraps the lip, and a single screw tightens against the outer edge creating a mechanical lock with no drilling, no adhesive, and no panel contact beyond the clip body itself.

The result is a fixing that is mechanically equivalent to a drilled screw fix. It will not shift under wind load. It will not degrade in UV. It will not fail and require a callback.

Why Anodised Aluminium

Plastic degrades. That is not a criticism, it is a material property. UV exposure, thermal cycling, and sustained wind load will fatigue any polymer over a long enough period. For a ten-year system, that timeline matters.

It is heavier than a plastic clip. It costs more. For a permanent commercial installation, those are not objections — they are the point.

Where the G Clip Is Specified

The G Clip is the recommended permanent fixing across the Renew bird proofing range. It is specified on:

  • Commercial rooftop arrays requiring permanent bird exclusion
  • Ground-mount and agricultural installations
  • Coastal and elevated sites with sustained wind load exposure
  • Any installation where the panel warranty must be preserved over the full system life
  • Retrofit proofing on existing arrays where plastic clips have previously failed

About the Fixing Screw

The G Clip is supplied without a screw. A single fixing screw is available separately from the Renew range, specified for compatibility with the G Clip geometry and corrosion-rated for outdoor use.

Installation Overview

The G Clip installs without drilling in four steps. A small screwdriver is the only tool required.

  • Position the clip hook over the top edge of the panel frame — the G-profile seats into the frame lip naturally
  • Press the clip body down until it is flush against the mesh
  • Insert the fixing screw through the clip body
  • Tighten against the outer frame edge — firm hand-tightness only; do not overtighten

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the screw sold separately?

Specifiers on commercial projects often have preferred fixings that must be logged in the project record. Supplying the clip separately gives you that flexibility. For standard residential work, the Renew screw is designed for the G Clip and is the simplest option.

Yes. Both clip types are compatible with the same mesh and the same 30mm panel frames. Many installers specify G Clips on exposed perimeter edges and C Clip with Screw on sheltered internal sections.

Yes. The G Clip installs without drilling and without removing the panels — it is particularly well suited to retrofit on arrays where plastic fixings have previously been dislodged or degraded.

No. Anodising adds a surface layer of approximately 10–25 microns — negligible for clip geometry. The G Clip seats correctly on any 30mm frame within the Renew compatibility range.
