Click & Go Clamp — The Solar Mounting Clamp That Fixes From the Inside
The Click & Go Clamp is a new kind of solar mounting clamp. Instead of clamping to the outside of the panel frame — the way every traditional clamp does — it fixes to the inside.
That one difference changes the entire finish of a solar installation.
No rail overhang at the end of the row. No protruding hardware to work around. No compromise on bird mesh or decorative trim. Just a clean, flush array edge that looks as considered as the panels themselves.
Available as the Click & Go End Clamp and the Click & Go Mid Clamp — designed to work together as part of the Renew mounting system.
Why the Edge of the Array Has Always Been a Problem
On a traditional solar installation, end clamps fix to the outer edge of the last panel in each row. To give the clamp room to grip, the mounting rail has to extend beyond the panel — creating a length of bare rail protruding from the end of the array.
That overhang causes two problems that every installer encounters.
It Breaks the Visual Line of the Installation
The solar industry has changed. A decade ago, a purely functional installation was the standard expectation. Today, customers ask for fully black panels, black rails, black end caps, and flush trim systems. They are specifying solar because they want it — not just because they need it — and they want it to look the part.
A protruding rail undermines all of that. It is the one element that signals to any observer that the installation was built around a mechanical constraint rather than a finished design intent. For a customer who has invested in premium all-black panels and a clean roof aesthetic, it is a detail that matters.
- It Complicates Bird Mesh and Decorative Trim Fitting
Bird mesh is now a standard part of most domestic solar installations. So are decorative edge trims. Both are designed to run cleanly around the perimeter of the panel array — and both have to be cut, bent, or worked around wherever a rail protrudes beyond the panel edge.
That means additional time on the roof, additional cuts, and a finish that never quite sits as cleanly as it should. On installations where the bird mesh butts up against a protruding rail end, there is also a gap in the protection — which defeats the purpose of fitting it in the first place.
The Click & Go Clamp removes the rail overhang entirely. No protrusion means nothing to work around.
How Click & Go Solves It
The Click & Go Clamp fixes to the inside of the panel frame rather than the outside. Because the clamp does not need external access to the frame edge, the mounting rail does not need to extend beyond the last panel. The rail ends where the panel ends — and so does everything else.
The result is a genuinely flush array edge. The panel frame is the outermost visible element of the installation. No clamp. No rail. No overhang.
- Click & Go End Clamp
The Click & Go End Clamp secures the first and last panels in each row. It clicks into place on the inside of the panel frame by hand — no tools required, taking less than a second per fixing. Once clicked, it is mechanically fixed and cannot be removed without the dedicated Renew release tool, which is available separately.
Because the end clamp fixes from the inside, the rail terminates flush with the outer edge of the panel. Bird mesh, edge trim, and any other perimeter finishing product fits cleanly from end to end with no obstruction.
Click & Go Mid Clamp
The Click & Go Mid Clamp secures adjacent panels along their shared inner edge, fixing both panels to the rail simultaneously — and does it without the installer ever needing to set foot on the glass.
Traditional mid-clamps are tightened with an impact driver. An impact driver needs to be held directly above the fixing point to deliver full torque — which means to tighten a mid-clamp between two panels, the installer has to be physically right on top of it. On smaller panels, that is manageable. On the large-format panels that now dominate the UK market — driven by homeowner demand for higher power output — the mid-clamp position sits too far from the panel edge to reach from the side. The only option is to step onto the glass.
That is why installers walk across panels. Not because they want to. Because the tool demands it.
The Click & Go Mid Clamp removes that requirement entirely. There is no bolt to torque, no impact driver to position. Once the panel is on the rail, the installer simply leans over from the edge and taps the mid-clamp into position with a rubber mallet. One tap. Less than a second. Done — without setting foot on the panel surface.
The benefits are immediate. No weight on the glass means no micro-cracks — those hairline fractures invisible to the naked eye that degrade cell performance silently across the lifetime of the installation. No stepping on panels means no black footprints on a premium all-black array. No impact driver means no awkward overhead positioning and no dropped tools. And as panels continue to grow larger, the traditional mid-clamp problem compounds. With Click & Go, it simply does not exist.
Like the end clamp, the mid clamp can only be released using the dedicated Renew release tool, available separately.
Solar Aesthetics: What the Market Now Expects
The shift in what homeowners expect from a solar installation has been significant and well-documented.
Black solar panels now represent over 80% of all new residential installations in the UK, with blue polycrystalline panels having been phased out entirely by manufacturers in 2023. Customers are choosing all-black panels, black rails, black end caps, and flush trim systems not simply for efficiency, but because the visual finish of the installation has become part of the purchasing decision.
Research from Swansea University in 2024 found that solar installations increase property values by an average of 6.1 to 7.1%. The quality of the installation finish is part of what drives that premium. A clean, considered installation enhances a property. A utilitarian one with protruding rails and improvised bird mesh does not.
UK planning regulations reflect this shift too — guidance now states that solar panels should be installed, so far as is practicable, to minimise the aesthetic impact on the building’s exterior. The Click & Go Clamp is a direct response to that expectation.
This is the direction the industry is moving. Click & Go moves with it.
Key Features
Inside-Frame Fixing — No Rail Overhang
The Click & Go Clamp fixes to the inside of the panel frame, meaning the mounting rail terminates flush with the outer edge of the panel. No protrusion. No exposed rail end. A clean, finished line at every edge of the array.
Toolless Fitting — Clicks Into Place by Hand
Fitting takes less than a second per clamp. No tools, no fiddling with bolts or nuts on the roof. Click the clamp into position and it is mechanically fixed. When multiplied across an entire installation, the time saving is significant.
Mid Clamp Fits Without Stepping on the Panel
Traditional mid-clamps require an impact driver — which requires the installer to be directly above the fixing point. On large-format panels, that means stepping onto the glass. The Click & Go Mid Clamp needs only a tap with a rubber mallet from the panel edge. No pressure on the glass, no micro-cracks, no footprints. As panels get larger, this advantage grows with them.
Tool-Release Security
Once clicked into place, the Click & Go Clamp can only be removed using the dedicated Renew release tool, available separately. The panel cannot be dislodged without it. For commercial and industrial rooftop installations on unmanned buildings, this provides a meaningful level of tamper resistance that standard clamps do not offer.
Cleaner Bird Mesh and Trim Installation
With no rail overhang at the array edge, bird mesh and decorative trim run unobstructed from end to end. No cutting around protrusions, no gaps in coverage, no compromise on the finished result. For installers fitting bird mesh on every job, this alone saves measurable time.
Compatible With Any Solar Panel
The Click & Go Clamp works with any standard solar panel frame regardless of manufacturer or wattage. As panels have grown larger in response to demand for greater power output, the inside-frame fixing approach scales with them.
High-Quality Aluminium Construction
Manufactured from high-quality aluminium — durable, lightweight, weather-resistant, and built to last the full service life of the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Click & Go Clamp?
The Click & Go Clamp is a solar panel mounting clamp that fixes to the inside of the panel frame rather than the outside. This eliminates the rail overhang that traditional end clamps require, producing a flush array edge with no protruding rail. It is available as the Click & Go End Clamp, for the first and last panels in each row, and the Click & Go Mid Clamp, for adjacent panels along their shared inner edge.
Why does rail overhang matter?
Traditional solar clamps fix to the outside of the panel frame. To give the clamp room to grip, the mounting rail has to extend beyond the outer edge of the last panel — leaving a length of bare, exposed rail at the end of each row. This protrusion breaks the visual line of the installation and creates an obstacle for bird mesh and decorative trim systems, which have to be cut or worked around wherever the rail protrudes. The Click & Go Clamp fixes from the inside, so the rail terminates flush with the panel edge and there is nothing to work around.
How does the Click & Go Clamp fit?
It clicks into place by hand in less than a second. No tools are required for installation. Once clicked, the clamp is mechanically fixed and will not release without the dedicated Renew release tool.
Can the Click & Go Clamp be removed?
Yes, but only using the dedicated Renew release tool, which is available separately. The clamp cannot be dislodged by hand once fitted. This makes it suitable for installations where tamper resistance is a consideration, such as commercial or industrial rooftop sites.
Does the Click & Go Clamp work with my solar panels?
The Click & Go Clamp is compatible with any standard solar panel frame, regardless of manufacturer or output rating. It does not require modification or adjustment for different panel types.
What rail system does the Click & Go Clamp work with?
The Click & Go Clamp is designed for use with the Renew Rail System. The Renew Rail System is available from renew-store.co.uk and through Renew’s UK distributor network.
Does it work with bird mesh?
Yes — and more cleanly than a traditional clamped installation. Because the Click & Go Clamp eliminates rail overhang, bird mesh and decorative trim can run continuously around the perimeter of the array without interruption. There is no protrusion to cut around, no gap in coverage, and no additional time required working around the rail end.
Why do installers walk across solar panels, and does the Click & Go Mid Clamp solve this?
Traditional mid-clamps are tightened with an impact driver, which needs to be held directly above the fixing point to work. On large-format panels — now the standard in UK residential installations — the mid-clamp position is too far from the panel edge to reach from the side, so installers have to step onto the glass to access it. Walking on panels risks micro-cracks: hairline fractures in the cells that are invisible but degrade performance over time. It also leaves unsightly black footprints on all-black panels. The Click & Go Mid Clamp is fitted with a rubber mallet from the edge of the panel — no impact driver, no need to stand on the glass, no risk of micro-cracks or footprints.
What is the Click & Go release tool?
The Renew release tool is the dedicated instrument required to remove a fitted Click & Go Clamp. It is sold separately by Renew and is available through the Renew trade store. No other tool will release a fitted Click & Go Clamp.
Is the Click & Go Clamp suitable for commercial installations?
Yes. The Click & Go Clamp is suitable for both domestic and commercial rooftop installations using the Renew Rail System. The tool-release mechanism provides a level of tamper resistance that makes it particularly well-suited to unmanned commercial sites such as industrial estates, warehouses, and public buildings.
